A Celebration of Carols
Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 8 at 3:00 pm
We welcome Bruce Dunn, principal trumpet with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and a powerful brass ensemble to help usher in the Christmas season to the greater Portland-Vancouver area. They will be accompanying Vancouver Master Chorale as we sing favorite carols and songs, including “The Night Before Christmas.” Our finale will be the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah. Laurie Chinn, our accompanist and an organ virtuoso in her own right, will accompany the choir and the audience on the newly restored 2,500-pipe organ at First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main Street in Vancouver, WA.

Vancouver Master Chorale is thrilled to partner once more with Misty Mamas, southwest Washington’s premiere bluegrass band, for two performances of gospel, bluegrass, and American folk songs. We will offer stellar arrangements of popular favorites — Misty Mamas will raise the roof with their spirited performance. Darcy Schmitt, popular local blues and jazz vocalist and music teacher at Battle Ground High School, will be our guest vocalist.
In addition, we are pleased to welcome Tamding Tsetan to this concert. This multi-instrumentalist and vocalist was born and raised in Tibet. He escaped in his early twenties by making a 43-day trek across the Himalayas on foot to reach India, wanting only freedom and an education. We first met this outstanding musician during his performance at the Peace & Justice Fair in September. His music is as fascinating as his life story.
